So I turned 30 on Friday. I've always looked really young for my age, and that combined with my friendly southern demeanor (not to be mistaken with southern accent) has always caused people to treat me like I'm younger than I am, so I've been looking forward to this particular milestone for a long time. How will anybody know I am 30? They won't, but at least when they say something to me like, "When I was your age..." or "When you get older...", I can say, "Hey! I'm 30!" and they'll think, "Oh, she's lived on this planet for a whole 30 years, she must know what she's talking about." Well, at least that's the way it happens in my fantasy.
Part of the reason I call this blog "KidKate" is because people have always treated me like a kid and I have always wanted nothing more than to be a grownup. Not exactly the stuff of Hollywood movies, I know, but it's the truth. So it will be interesting to see what being 30 is like for me.
When I started this blog (a whopping two months ago!), I set some goals for myself to accomplish before 30.
Let's review:
- volunteer for the ASPCA
- become more athletic (no, seriously)
- get checked by the gynecologist to make sure I'm all clear to have a baby
- establish some nonwork-related form of writing
So far I have:
- called the ASPCA, not gotten through, and given up on trying
- started spinning, but you know how that's going
- gotten checked by the gyno with inconclusive results
- written on this blog, transferred this blog, bought a domain name for this blog, and generally enjoyed having this blog
Not perfect, but relatively on target, I guess you could say. I've sort of lost my nerve with the ASPCA thing, but I swear I've got an Amber Alert out for it and will try calling again once my nerve is returned safely to its rightful owner.
