I had my (nearly) 39-week doctor appointment today. The doc asked if I'd like to be examined to see how close to delivery I am.
"Yes!" I said.
"Yes!" Yan said.
He warned us that we could be disappointed. I have had zero signs of labor--zip, zero, nada, nothing--so I said I doubted that. Given that I was two weeks late and Yan was two weeks late and many of my friends delivered nearly two weeks late (this is all anecdotal and unscientific, I know), I am assuming I'll have to be induced at 41 weeks (the latest, god bless him, my doctor will let me go). I figured I'd be one centimeter or so and that would be enough to hang my hat on.
After examining me (with Yan standing up awkwardly near my head), the doctor gave my arm a little squeeze and said, "I think you'd better go ahead and make that appointment for next week."
I am not even a little bit dilated. Zero centimeters. I'm starting to efface, yes, but my cervix is clamped shut. Closed for business. Tight as a steel drum.
Also? I have a yeast infection.
Am beginning to think there's such a thing as too much maternity leave.
Oh that's a bummer, but it's exactly what you expected...interesting.
I was born 10 days late, I hope that's not a sign for what's to come.
And major bummer on the yeast infection. That CAN'T be fun!

I wonder if things like when you go into labor and how big baby is are hereditary at all. Considering me and my siblings all came early, and were all at about 6 lbs, I sure hope so....

Hang in there! I am sorry this last stretch has been so much of a drag for you. The little miss and I will have to come and pay you a visit to cheer you up!

Oh, dear. I do hope your body gets in gear before September 15, and that your whopper is not too whopping...
Congratulations on doing your nesting -- that was quick! Your mention of baby laundry made me break out in a guilty sweat.
By the way, what means "maternity leave"? ;)

Came via Karen's site.
Sorry about the YI, that's a sucky deal. I had it for nearly the ENTIRE term when I was pregnant with our baby girl. It went away as soon as I delivered. Go figure.
Hope you will deliver soon! And the YI goes away soon too!
